At Physica Health, we offer two expert post-natal physiotherapy services to support your recovery after birth: the Mummy MOT® and our Post-natal Wellness Check.

Both services are led by specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapists and include a detailed assessment of:

  • Posture and breathing
  • Abdominal muscle separation (tummy gap/diastasis recti)
  • Pelvic floor strength and function

Following your assessment, you’ll receive a personalised rehabilitation plan with safe, effective exercises tailored to your needs, along with a written report outlining your findings and guidance on how to get back to exercise and daily function.

The Mummy MOT® is delivered by our certified practitioner Vanesha Patel, while our Post-natal Wellness Check is offered by Kelly Thompson, our Women’s Health Specialist Physiotherapist.

What does a Mummy MOT® or Post-natal Wellness Check include?
At Physica Health in Bagshot, Surrey, we offer two comprehensive post-natal physiotherapy services: the Mummy MOT® and our Post-natal Wellness Check. Both are 1-hour assessments with a Specialist Women’s Health Chartered Physiotherapist and include:
  • In-depth check of pelvic floor strength and tummy gap (diastasis recti)
  • Assessment of any physical issues arising from pregnancy and birth
  • A bespoke post-natal recovery programme tailored to your needs, lifestyle and goals
  • Specific and safe post-natal exercises to improve posture, stability, and core strength
  • A written report of findings and professional advice

Can I use health insurance for my Mummy MOT® or Post-natal Wellness Check?
Both the Mummy MOT® and Post-natal Wellness Check are self-pay services. However, some Women’s Health follow-up consultations may be covered by certain insurers. Please check with us and your insurance provider before booking.
Is it ever too late to book a Mummy MOT® or Post-natal Wellness Check at Physica Health?
Not at all. While we recommend booking from 6 weeks postnatally, we regularly support women who gave birth months or even years ago. Whether you’re dealing with pelvic pain, incontinence, diastasis recti, or back/hip pain, our experienced physiotherapists can help.
Appointment Information (for both Post-Natal Wellness Check and Mummy MOT)
  • Appointments available from 6 weeks postnatally (after your GP check)
  • Each session lasts 60 minutes
  • A pre-screen health questionnaire must be completed at least 24 hours before your appointment
  • Babies are welcome, though you may find your focus reduced
  • You’re welcome to bring a chaperone if you prefer

What is the difference between the Mummy MOT® and the Post-natal Wellness Check?
The Mummy MOT® is carried out by a certified Mummy MOT® practitioner and follows the official Mummy MOT® protocol. Our Post-natal Wellness Check is delivered by our specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist and includes the same key areas of assessment: pelvic floor, tummy gap, posture, breathing and general post-natal recovery. Both services provide a thorough assessment, personalised plan, and a written report.
Do I need a GP referral to book?
No referral is needed. You can book directly with us at Physica Health in Bagshot. However, we recommend attending your 6-week GP check-up before your appointment.
Can I book a follow-up session after my initial check?
Yes, follow-up sessions are available and recommended to help monitor your recovery and progress. These may be eligible for health insurance cover—please enquire with your provider.
